Abstract

Fibre reinforced composite laminates are widely used in many newlineengineering fields owing to its high strength to weight and stiffness toweight newlineratios These structures are fabricated with tailored properties for a newlinerequired direction This impact loading can cause extensive subsurface newlinedamage that may not be visible on the surface but can lead to a significant newlinereduction in the strength of composite laminates It can create internal defects newlinein the form of matrix failure delamination fibre breakage which yields newlinereduction in the residual strength and stiffness of the structure It is observed newlinethat the prediction of damage area in woven fabric composite laminates using newlinematrix properties and the energy absorbed by the composite plate in damage newlinearea using stress developed during impact have not been discussed and newlinereported much in the literature newline newline
