dc.description.abstractContrast enhancement has a crucial role to play in image processing newlineapplications like consumer electronics medical image analysis remote newlinesensing and scientific visualization The poor contrast found in an image or newlinevideo may be due to several reasons such as the substandard quality of the newlineimage acquisition devices unprofessional approach of the device operators newlineand hostile external conditions while the acquisition takes place These newlinereasons lead to lesser usage of the available dynamic range of intensities Due newlineto these above stated reasons the images and videos never display all newlineinformation in the picture which is captured On the contrary they come out newlinewith images that appear to be unnatural and washedout Contrast newlineenhancement aims to remove these problems in order to obtain a more newlinevisuallypleasing and or informative newline newline
