Abstract: Background: newlinePolycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disorder that affects newlineapproximately 3 7 % of women with a leading cause of infertility. newline newlineThe pathophysiology of the newlinedisease involves multisystem dysfunction, namely reproduction, endocrine and metabolic. newlineThe various risks like endometrial hyperplasia and endometrial cancer, insulin resistance / newlinetype 2 DM, high blood pressure, dyslipidaemia, cardiovascular disease, strokes, weight gain, newlinemiscarriages are associated. Allied sciences have been developed with treatments like newlinehormonal therapy, insulin therapy that meet with high cost and prolonged usage end up with newlineother metabolic disturbances. These factors made the concern for study and intervention of newlineAyurveda. This complex disease cannot be included under any specific condition. Rather it newlinecan be understood as the sannipataja dosha manifestation with samprapti of rasa dushti newline(insulin resistance), meda dushti (dyslipidemia and adiposity), aavarana of vata (abnormal newlinehypthalamo-pitutary-ovarian axis) and aaratava dushti (menstrual disorders) with newlinebheejopaghata (heridetary) as factor. In such conditions, shodhana chikitsa with virechana newlineconsidered to be the best choice of treatment. Virechana has also been proved efficacious in newlineinsulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, sthoulya, and at genetic levels. Danti being explained newlinefor bhedana and teekshana has been selected to establish its clinical efficacy as teekshana newlinevirechaka.
