Abstract: The force measurement plays a very vital role in various applications, necessitating its newlineaccurate and precise measurement. From the survey of worldwide research, it is found that the newlinemost of research related to force measurement has been conducted to design and develop newlinevarious types of force transducers. A limited research also has been done to discuss various newlineaspects of force standard machines and force calibration machines. newlineTaking the shortcomings of past research into account, the present research aims to newlinedevelop some force transducers for applications related to static force measurement. The ring newlineshaped force transducers are developed on the basis of theory of bending of curved bars and newlineinvestigated for stress strain and deflection under action of external forces. For rigorous newlinevalidation of findings of analytical approach, finite element analysis and experimental newlineobservations have been taken into account. Deviations are observed between the analytical newlineand experimental findings and suitable modifications in the analytical expressions are newlineproposed for more realistic analytical observations. The fabricated sensing elements are strain newlinegauged and the strain gauges are applied to the suitable locations in form of a Wheatstone newlinebridge. The force transducers developed are metrologically investigated on the basis of the standard calibration procedures and their uncertainty of measurement evaluated. The role of newlinefinite element analysis over the performance of force transducers is also investigated and newlinefindings are reported. newlineThe present research extends to the development of certain modifications of ring newlineshaped force transducers. Square ring shaped and Octagonal ring shaped force transducers are newlinedeveloped and investigated by similar methodology as discussed above. Role of indicating newlinedevices also has been discussed to investigate the effect of indicating devices over the newlinemetrological characteristics of force transducers.
