Software Quality has been a very integral part of research in the field of software engineering. There newlinehave been several attempts to quantify direct or indirect attributes of software essential for measuring newlineits quality. newlineAccessibility is an important characteristic of software that determines the ease with which an application newlinemay be accessed by its users. Accessibility of software on hand held devices, such as smart newlinephones, is a major factor in determining its quality. In order to design the metrics to measure the newlineaccessibility of software applications two separate studies were conducted. The first one involved Persons newlinewith Disabilities [PwD] and second study involved normal people. In the first one we designed applications using open source toolkit MAGMITO and MOBIONE. The accessibility using the tools newlineprovided by W3C formulated Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) was computed for the two newlineapplications. These applications were then distributed to Action for Ability Development and Inclusion newline(AADI) and All India Deaf and Dumb Society(AIDDS). In the second, a group of engineering graduate newlinestudents were asked to access common web applications (irctc, facebook etc.) on their mobile devices. newlineThe students were asked to give their feed back in prescribed format regarding any difficulties faced in newlineaccessing the applications. Similarly the feedback from especially abled persons were also received. On newlinethe basis of feedback received the metrics meant to measure the accessibility of applications (web based) newlineon mobile devices was designed. It was further validated using an empirical study. newlineThe interoperability issues of software applications were also studied, especially of applications meant newlineto be used as web services. Software Interoperability is the ease with which a software system may be newlineused with other systems of applications. The issues in designing interoperable web services were studied. newlineA case study of credit card application was developed and implemented using Java and .Net technologies.
