Design and development of expert system for technical and higher education using frame based competency management

Abstract

This thesis presents the development of expert system to assist in the operation of Frame based management in educational institutions. The knowledge based consists of a rule-based expert system for the competence management and subsequent performance assessment. It is generally recognized that an expert system can cope with many of the common problems related with the operation and control of the Competence Management Process as well as Frame Management Process. In this work an expert system is developed which emphasizes on various steps involved in the Fame Management Process. The knowledge acquisition to develop this expert system involves an exhaustive literature review on Frame Management Operation and interviews with experienced administrator and the Frame Managers. The development tool for this system is an expert system shell. newlineIn this work a holistic framework is proposed to review the ES approach that will be practically feasible for organizational settings. It is based on the psychological conceptions of human competence and performance in the workplace. It explains the application of ES that can be used in an institute to systematically assess existing and future competencies required. In this work using framework for learning environment by using BPL approach. Using an ES approach to Educational Institute with FBM will be more effectively use their limited resources to reap the more benefits from their investments in both people and technology.
