SEGMENTATION AND RECOGNITION OF HANDWRITTEN MATHEMATICAL EXPRESSION

Abstract

A wide spread use of mathematical expressions in document processing increased the necessity of recognising these expressions easily. Digitization of mathematical formulas into word processing system takes same time as editing table and figures. Due to difficulties in writing mathematical expressions into digitise form, it becomes necessity to explore the recognition system for handwritten mathematical expressions. It is a need of today s digital age to have all the available information into digital form and it should be recognised by computers. There is massive mathematical information which is available in the form of journals, articals, books, well-known mathematician s articles in handwritten or printed form.
