Phytochemical Investigation and Formulation of Anti Microbial Herbal Products for Acne

Abstract

Biodistribution studies of topically applied radiolabeled gels on Balb/c mice indicated that radiolabeled-PI gel formulation demonstrated highest concentration in dermis as compared to other organs/tissues. Skin irritation studies indicated that PI and PH did not produce any dermatological reactions and were well tolerated by the rats even after seven days of application. Stability studies were performed according to the ICH guidelines at 40+-0.2 °C for optimized PI and PH gel formulations, which revealed no significant changes in tested parameters at the end of 90 days. In conclusion, the polyherbal gel formulations have shown therapeutic potential and might be useful as topical application for the treatment of acne.
