Abstract: | The demand of electrical energy is increasing due to heavy industrialisation To meet the required demand electrical power has been transferred at higher voltages The rise in voltage levels and polluted atmosphere had affected the performance of the insulators in the field and this pollution flashover of insulators had been recognised There were several investigations carried out to overcome this problem but some recent incidents of blackouts and partial blackouts due to pollution flashover have realised that the problem still persists and is continuing to be a serious threat to achieve the safe and successful transmission of the power in the power system network newline newline |
