Caching is the well established technique to improve the efficiency of data access in the mobile environment Caching techniques have the ability to reduce the bandwidth and the energy consumption especially in the mobile computing scenario The major contribution of the proposed work can be explained in two folds The first suggests an Improved Architecture for Complete Cache Management IACCM and Distributed Cache Management Architecture DCMA that include all the cache modules namely cache placement cache discovery cache consistency and cache replacement DCMA is designed for the mobile environment where the base station and the mobile communicate directly The second fold suggests a Hybrid and Adaptive Caching HAC approach to cache the data item based on the varying size and Time to Live TTL based invalidation of the data item in a mobile computing environment Mobile nodes establish single-hop communication with the base station and ad hoc peer to peer communication with other neighbor nodes in the network to access data items The DCMA architecture suggests a location update method for moving a mobile node, and a power optimization scheme to reduce the energy or resource consumption It aims to achieve a caching system with reduced query packet loss bandwidth utilization server workload and resource utilization Moreover DCMA proposes a technique to reduce power consumption The cache placement module places the data into the cache on the basis of the weight vector
