Abstract: Cardiovascular diseases are multifactorial in etiology, which share a few common risk factors. The transience of cardiovascular diseases is incredibly increasing due to the fact, that the markers are in existence fail to introspect the conditions carefully. The Framingham Study highlighted that 35% of cases of coronary heart disease were in patients with normal total cholesterol levels. These findings point out the requirement for other markers that better predict cardiovascular risk. Recent years, inflammation plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and its related complications. Studies have examined several circulating markers of inflammations such as, high- sensitivity C-reactive protein, fibrinogen, tumor necrosis factor alpha and interleukin-6 seems to have the most consistent relation to the risk of cardiovascular diseases in a variety of clinical settings. Hence, the objectives of the present study, is to evaluate the prognostic utility of various inflammatory markers alone and in combination with various blood lipids in patients with cardiovascular diseases. The findings of the present study confirmed the inclusion of inflammatory markers in the assessment cardiovascular diseases, noticeably, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein as a risk marker for cardiovascular diseases to have important implications. newline newlineThe most significant role of the drug statins in the reduction of serum lipids has been well recognized in both primary and secondary prevention studies. However, after proven its efficacy statins remain underutilized in numerous settings.
