Abstract: | Catharanthus roseus is an important medicinal plant, belonging to the family Apocynaceae and is a rich source of alkaloids. The plant contains about 130 alkaloids, many of which show anti cancerous property. Two dimeric alkaloids vinblastine (VB) and vincristine (VC) are perhaps the most important, they found extensive application in the treatment of several newlinehuman neoplasma.In this present investigation, protoplast isolation, culture and plant regeneration were studied newlinein C. roseus. The yield of alkaloids in protoplast regenerated plant and tissues were quantified by using HPTLC. The present work describes an efficient protocol for plant regeneration from protoplasts in C. newlineroseus in which hypocotyl derived embryogenic callus was used as source. the synthetic newlineseeds development protocol was established and the viability of synthetic seeds was newlineexamined after storage at low temperature. newline |
