Chemical Synthesis of Selenium Nanoparticles and Their Application in Rheumatoid Arthritis

Abstract

The desire to bring about progressive growth in science and technology for facilitating change and development; has inspired global scientific communities in innovations in emerging technologies such as biotechnology, information technology and nanotechnology. Nanotechnology is a group of evolving technologies with deliberate and controlled manipulation, precision modeling and production of matter at nanoscale (Fig 1.1) in order to create materials, devices and systems with fundamentally new properties and function/s that are not displayed by their larger counterparts. Nanotechnology has created a great impacting three major industries namely materials and manufacturing (coatings and composites for products like automobiles and buildings), electronics (displays and batteries), and health care and life sciences. newlineNanoscience is an ancient science and now belongs to the 20th century (Mantovani et al. 2009). The idea of nanotechnology was first introduced by Richard Feynman in 1959 who quoted that and#8213;There is plenty of room at the bottom.and#8214; He deduced the possibility of producing nanoscale materials by using atoms as building blocks. The word and#8213;nanotechnologyand#8214; was first coined by N. Taniguchi in 1974 at an international conference on industrial production held in Tokyo. Further, the ideas of Feynman were flourished by E. Drexler in his book named and#8213;Vehicles of creation the arrival of nanotechnology eraand#8214; in 1986. newline
