STUDY OF RURAL NON FARM SECTOR EMPLOYMENT IN MAHARASHTRA

Abstract

The study aims to understand the employment opportunities for rural workers in NFS and the major determinants for entry into this sector employment in Maharashtra in the post- liberalisation period at the state level and at the regional level. newlineThe specific objectives of the study are: newline1. Understand the nature, extent, trends and patterns of employment in RNFS in Maharashtra, during 1993-94 to 2009-10. newline2. Identify and examine the major determinants that affect access to RNFE at the state and regional level. newline3. Understand whether the diversification towards RNFE at the state level and variations in RNFE at the regional level are explained by distress driven factors or growth induced factors. newline
