Background: newlineCiphers like AES, DES are known for their huge foot newlineprint, high power dissipation and higher newlinegate counts. It is practically impossible to use th newlineese ciphers to provide security for small scale newlineembedded systems. Small scale embedded systems work newlineon 4-bit/8-bit processors. These newlineprocessors have a very small memory size and cannot newlineafford the applications which dissipate newlinehuge power. Devices like RFID tags have a total of newline10,000 GEs (Gate Equivalents) available newlinefor hardware implementation. Out of these only 300- newline2100 GEs would be available for newlinesecurity aspects. These constraints result in the e newlinemergence of a new field, Lightweight newlineCryptography. Lightweight cryptography endorses tho newlinese ciphers that have a robust design, newlinesmaller footprint, low power dissipation and GEs le newliness than 2100. Recently, many lightweight newlineciphers have been designed with robust architecture newlineto make fields like IoT and pervasive newlinecomputing feasible. newline
