Abstract: Kanyakumari District is one of the worst affected districts in the state of Tamil Nadu in India newlinedue to tsunami on 26th December, 2004. The tsunami of 2004 swept away many lives, damaged newlinehouses, social infrastructure, catamarans, vallams, mechanized boats, fishing nets, agriculture and newlineanimal husbandry, business units and common properties, such as roads, electricity cable, bridges and newlinechannels. Immediate rescue operations, temporary relief operations, compensation activities, and newlinerehabilitation measures were taken up on a war foot basis newline
