dc.description.abstractNanomaterials are defining characteristic a very small feature size in the range of 1-100 nm (1 nm= 10-9 m). The physical and chemical properties of nanomaterials are significantly different from those of atoms and bulk materials with the same chemical composition. This work involves the preparation, structural, optical, electrical, dielectric and high pressure electrical resistivity studies of Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn and Ce-doped SnO2 nanoparticles as a function of dopants, dopant percentage and high pressure. Chapter 1 reviews a general introduction of nanomaterials. Introduction of nanomaterials and their unique properties are discussed in brief. Chapter 2 summarizes the instrumentation of most common characterization techniques, such as X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), the optical absorption studies by UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. Chapter 3 deals with the preparation, electrical, optical and high pressure studies of Mn-doped SnO2 nanoparticles. Chapter 4 discusses the preparation, electrical, optical and high pressure studies on Fe-doped SnO2 nanoparticles. Chapter 5 details the preparation, electrical, optical and high pressure studies on Co-doped SnO2 nanoparticles. Chapter 6 discusses the preparation, electrical, optical and high pressure studies on Ni-doped SnO2 nanoparticles. Chapter 7 deals with the preparation, electrical, optical and high pressure studies on Cu-doped SnO2 nanoparticles. Chapter 8 discusses the preparation, electrical, optical and high pressure studies on Zn-doped SnO2 nanoparticles. Chapter 9 deals with the preparation, electrical, optical and high pressure studies on Ce-doped SnO2 nanoparticles. The high pressure electrical resistivity study shows that material behaves like metallic in nature. Finally, the summary and conclusion of the entire work are presented in a brief manner in the tenth chapter. Scope for the future work is also mentioned. newlineen_US
