Abstract: | Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system provides integrated data that is of great strategic importance to the business. It is a complex system that faces multiple technical and human challenges during implementation and adoption stages. Understanding the challenges by identifying the influencing forces and improving the rate of adoption is the prime objective of any technology implementation program. The purpose of the study was to investigate the role of various factors upon users attitude towards adoption and use, in the post adoption phase. The study brings out the importance of work environment factors like empowering leadership and trust , studied through introduction of latent variable; Work Group Characteristics , found to have significant influence on ERP adoption and use. A comprehensive and robust ERP Use Model, as an extension of the Technology Acceptance Model, has been provided for predicting the usage behaviours of ERP users. The model was found to have good predictability power. newlineAnother significant contribution was to investigate the applicability of the Cognitive Dissonance and Self Perception theory in the post-adoption phase. It is a unique investigation as no mention has been found so far of these theories in context of the innovation adoption studies. These theories did not show empirical evidence but the qualitative data did partially support the theoretical application. The study also proposes various organisational interventions, as practical implications, for enhancing the use of ERP systems in the post-adoption phase based on the actual findings from the organisational study. newlineKey Words: Technology Adoption, ERP Use, Factors, Attitude, TAM newline |
