RESEARCH ON DIGITAL LIBRARY AND INTERNET WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO DELHI NCR

Abstract

The principal of this thesis is Digital library consists of digital material. These libraries are dependents almost on computers and electronic networks Systems and system engineering skills rather than traditional catalogue and reference librarian. Digital libraries develop measuring their performance in the highly competitive environment and quality of service. Digital libraries and service organizations and support high education and research, providing digital resources with specialized staff and provide information in a digital form. newline Digital library research is built upon a long history of related works in information retrieval, data base, user interface, network, resource sharing and dissemination of information electronically to the users of specialized nature. newline However, this research work has been taken up with the objectives of development of digital libraries and new technology (research) emerging in the field of digital world. These have been divided in seven chapters. Chapter 1 is Introduction describing the definition, concept, importance objectives and functions of digital libraries newlineThis Chapter also includes review of literature which is an important feature. Chapter 2 Software including open source software discusses various software particularly open source software which are serving the libraries, including web based technologies relating to software. Chapter 3 describes and analyses resource sharing which is very necessary for a digital libraries various services provided by digital libraries through Resource sharing has been discussed also. Chapter 4 deals with digital technologies of digital libraries, i.e. OCR technology, Knowledge digitalization and various important networks. Chapter 5 discussed important four National Libraries of Delhi NCR which are adopting digital technology and making further researches in the digital field.
