Abstract: Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor CSTR is one of the most important newlineunit operations in chemical industries Chemical reactions in a reactor are newlineeither exothermic or endothermic and therefore require that energy either to newlinebe removed or added to the reactor to maintain constant temperature newlineExothermic reactions create potential safety problems and the possibility of newlineexotic behaviour such as multiple steady states newlineIn the CSTR process an irreversible exothermic reaction takes place newlineAn increase in temperature of 1oC may increase the reaction rate by 10 newlinepercent and thereby causes significant changes in concentration and hence newlinethe yield The increase in reaction rate with increasing temperature tends to newlinemake the reactor operations unstable newline newline
