Abstract: The strengthening of wooden beam by reinforcement is considered to enhance newlineboth the capacity and flexural stiffness of beams. Composite wood-steel structural newlinemembers have potential to combine the advantages of ready availability, easy working, newlineand simple joining along with strength and stiffness. Wood filled tubes are closed type newlinewood based hybrid systems which consists of tube with a relatively thin wall, made of newlinehigh performance material, such as steel or FRP which is filled with wood, concrete, or newlinefoam. From a construction point of view, the steel tube eliminates the need for formwork newlineand protects the core material from the external environment. It also helps to retain the newlinemoisture and reduces the effect of drying shrinkage cracking. Generally, the core material newlineincreases the compressive strength and reduces the tendency for local buckling of the newlinetube. The filling of steel tube with material increases the flexural rigidity and the stiffness newlineof the system.
