Abstract: Epoxy resin hybrid composites have been prepared with E glass fibre and ferric oxide fine particle for striving new application materials The principal aim of this research work is to analyze the mechanical thermal dielectric and electromagnetic shielding behavior of epoxy resin hybrid composite The E glass fibre to resin ratio was maintained at 30 70 vol Particle of sizes 200 and 100 nm was prepared by ball milling and sol gel processes respectively The X-ray diffraction peaks confirmed and#945; ferric oxide newlinecrystal structure in both ball milled and sol gel prepared particle The grain size of ball milled and sol gel prepared and#945; ferric oxide was calculated by Debye Scherrer formula and the values were 42 and 37 nm respectively The transmission electron microscopy image revealed the shape and size of sol gel prepared ferric oxide particle Both fibre and particle were surface treated by an amino silane A minopropyltrimethoxysilane by aqueous solution method to improve the particle dispersion and adhesion of fibre to epoxy matrix. The attachment of silane on particle surface was confirmed by FT-IR newlinespectral analysis Three layered E-glass fibre reinforced ferric oxide particle added epoxy resin hybrid composites of six variants were prepared using hand layup technique and cured at room temperature. newline newline
