Abstract: Cancer is a complex disease of uncontrolled cell growth characterized by abnormal cellular proliferation. According to a report by the National Cancer Prevention and Research Institute, by the year 2020, more than 17 lakh new patients in India can get cancerous. In the year 2016, the figure was above 14 lakh, which would increase to 17 lakh 30 thousand in 2020. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, there are 14 million cases related to cancer every year in India and under World Health Organisation, Five lakh people are being killed by cancer every year in India. newlineNumber of synthetic agents is used to treat the diseases but because of their toxicity and side effects many of the research work is carried on to evaluate the plant derived chemotherapeutic agents which are safe. Herbal medicine has been used for many years and is still used in developing countries as the important source for treatment of various diseases including cancers. Plants have been used in medicine for their natural antiseptic properties. Medicinal plants have been used in folk medicines in African and Asian populations and many plants are consumed for their health benefits in developed nations. Some nations are still reply of plant based treatment as their main source of medicine according to World Health Organisation (WHO). Approximately 60% of the drugs currently used for the cancer treatment have been isolated from natural product. newlineThe discovery and development of synthetic drugs from synthetic compounds is time consuming and multistep process against a trials of In vivo biological screenings and supplemented with investigating the promising compound for their pharmacokinetic properties, metabolism and toxicity, In silico approach is carried out now a days. The identification of new drugs targets with moderate and less time consuming by effecting the time for clinical trials for discovery of new drugs, sophisticated In silico approach has given massive opportunity to pharmaceutical companies to drug discoveries. newlineAbstract newlineii newlineT
