Abstract: The thesis entitled, Development of some green protocols in organic synthesis , embodies the results of the investigation carried out to develop some practical protocols for the synthesis of useful organic compounds. Green chemistry has currently attained the status of a major scientific discipline. The application of green chemistry principles have led to the development of cleaner and benign chemical processes, with many new technologies being developed each year. In today s world, synthetic chemists both in academia and industry are constantly challenged to explore more environmentally benign methods for the desired synthetic transformations. In this quest, a proficient use of microwave irradiation, transition metal catalysts, organocatalysts, solvent-free, and metal-free conditions has been made in the present dissertation to accomplish some important organic transformations. The contents of the thesis have been divided into six chapters followed by a brief summary. newlineAll the products have been fully characterized on the basis of their physico-chemical and spectroscopic (IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR) studies. The structure of one representative product has also been conclusively confirmed by single crystal X-ray analysis. Plausible mechanisms for different transformations have also been proposed. newline
