dc.description.abstractThe thesis entitled Identifying novel chemotypes against breast cancer: Design, synthesis and newlinebiological evaluation was initiated on January 2014 under the supervision of Dr. Subhabrata newlineSen (supervisor) and Dr. Shailja Singh (co-supervisor), The primary objective of this present work newlineis to access the novel chemotypes against breast cancer through diverse synthetic strategies. The newlinethesis comprises of five chapters. In Chapter 1 we have provided a concise review on breast cancer, newlineconcerned molecular targets and various therapeutic approaches to treat breast cancer. In Chapter newline2 we described a modular synthetic strategy of natural product inspired hybrid scaffolds. In newlineChapter 3 we described a facile three component synthesis of 5-arylidene-2-aminothiazolidinones. newlineIn Chapter 4 we reported design and synthesis of polysubstituted olefin library via intuitive newlinescaffold hopping and bioisosteric modification of known breast cancer molecules Tamoxifen. In newlineChapter 5 we have demonstrated a facile synthesis of a library of novel hybrid compounds through newlineintramolecular oxidative ring contraction of appropriate carbolines. newline
