Abstract: Bal Gangadhar Tilak represented the forces of extreme nationalism during the freedom struggle newlineof India. Through his dynamism, dedication and versatile genius, he could be the path-finder of newlineIndia s freedom. Bal Gangadhar Tilak was an independence activist who was also a journalist, newlineteacher, social reformer and lawyer. He was born on july 23,1856 and died on August 1 in the newlineyear 1920. He is better known for the quote Swaraiya is my birthright and I shall have it. Tilak newlinewas a great personality. Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, a man of extra-ordinary energy, uniting newlineas in a triple sheaf of iron, a great mind, a strong will, and a character. The Britishers called Bal newlineGangadhar Tilak, The Father of the Indian unrest. Bal Gangadhar Tilak was the first leader of newlinethe Indian Independence Movement and led to the rice of Indian nationalism. He was also given newlinethe honourary title of Lokmanya which mean admired by the people. Tilak is known as the newline Father of Swaraj as he was one of the first Independence movement. Bal Gangadhar Tilak newlinejoined the Indian National Congress in the year 1890 and started the fight of self-rule. He was newlineone of the first activists who came up with the concept of Swaraj . Tilak start simultaneously newlinetwo weeklies newspaper the Mahratta in English and kesari in Marathi for mass education and newlinenational awakening in the beginning of 1881. He envisioned newlinethese celebrations inciting a sense of unity and inspiring nationalist sentiment among Indians. Tilak was a greater newlinesocial reformer then those who preached social reformer but did not practice. Tilak was reformer newlinein real life. newlineTilk s achivement and personality put him among the first rank of historic and significant newlinefigures. He was one who built much rapidly out of little beginnings, a creater of great things out newlineof an unworked material. In the words of Mahatma Gandi, Tilak had dedicated his wonderful newlinetalents to the country. No man preached the gospel of Swaraj with the consistency and insistence newlineof the Lokmanya. His countryman, there fore, implicitly believed in him. He will go down to the newlinegeneration yet urborn as a maker of Modern India .
