Abstract: current study explores the nature of stressors involved in military training. It also aims at development and assessment of the effectiveness of an stress management intervention program on trainee s experience of stressors, stress reactions and coping strategies adopted by them. The study was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, a schedule for Focus group discussion (FGD) was formulated. Eight FGDs were conducted newlineon 64 trainees randomly selected from all the three wings and across the 4 semesters. The stress scale and inventory of stressors were constructed after the qualitative analysis of FGD data and were standardised on 100 randomly selected first semester defence trainees. newline
