Abstract: A brief introduction of nanoscience and technology, nanoparticles, quantum confinement effect, various properties, techniques for synthesis of nanoparticles, types of emission, types of phosphors, stabilization of materials, II-VI semiconductors and selected material for this work (ZnS) and the available methods of synthesize are explained in detailed manner. The study and characteirsation of nanoparticles using various techniques by different workers with the help of available/accessible literature are presented. The aim of the present study is outlined.
