Abstract: Solid state Induction motor drive has opened a new horizon to the induction motor drives. Methods with solid state drive have transformed the behavior of induction motor on par with DC motor. This work deals with design, simulation and implementation of VSI fed three phase induction motor drive. The drive system is modelled using the blocks of simulink. Detailed simulation and implementation of the drive system are given in this work. Speed response and spectrum analysis are also presented. This drive has advantages like reduced hardware and increased reliability. The experimental results are compared with the simulation results. The modelling and simulation of modified sine PWM VSI fed three phase Induction motor drive are also presented. The drive system is modelled using the blocks of simulink. Single phase AC is converted into DC using a rectifier. DC is converted into variable frequency, variable voltage AC using inverter. The speed is controlled by varying the frequency. Detailed modelling , simulation and implementation of the drive system are presented. Speed response and harmonic analysis are also presented. The simulation results are compared with the theoretical results. This work also deals with the simulation of Space vector modulated inverter fed induction motor drive. The drive system is modelled using matlab simulink and the results are presented. This drive has advantages like reduced harmonics and heating. Fixed AC is converted into DC and this DC is converted into variable voltage and variable frequency AC using SVM inverter. The output of SVM is applied to the stator of induction motor. The simulation results are compared with the analytical results. The FFT analysis shows that the current spectrum has reduced harmonics compared to the conventional system This work also deals with the comparison of sine PWM and Space vector modulated inverter fed induction motor drives. The aim of this work is to identity the best PWM scheme for induction motor drive using MATLAB/SIMULINK.
