Abstract: Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) contain hundreds or thousands of sensor nodes newlineequipped with sensing, computing and communication abilities. Each node has the ability newlineto sense phenomena of its environment, perform simple computations, and communicate newlineamong them or directly to an external base station (BS). Deployment of a sensor network newlinecan be in random fashion. Sensor nodes may be dropped from an airplane or planted newlinemanually over a terrain of interest. These networks promise a maintenance-free, faulttolerant newlineplatform for gathering different kinds of data. Sensor node needs to operate for a newlinelong time on a tiny battery. Therefore innovative techniques to eliminate energy newlineinefficiencies that would shorten the lifetime of the network must be used. newline
