Abstract: Corporate Governance has become a global phenomenon in recent times. The stages newlineof development of Corporate Governance and its systems synchronize with the newlineevolution of the economy, corporate structure, political and legal developments of a newlinecountry. In India, studies about Corporate Governance have been focusing on its newlinedivergent issues and varying methodologies. Prior to the economic reforms of 1992, newlinethe development of Corporate Governance in India was slow, but post liberalization newlinerapid strides have been made in its development to converge with global practices. newlineThis paper extends the existing literature on Corporate Governance, firstly by newlineconstructing a Corporate Governance index and then finding its relationship with newlinefinancial performance using cross sectional and panel regressions.The study also newlinecovers other mechanisms of Corporate Governance and Board structures...... newline
