Abstract: The Indian economy gained fresh momentum with the liberalization ushered in by the government in 1991. The average GDP growth rate climbed to nearly 6% during the 1990s, compared to a tepid 4% for the first 40 years since independence. However, despite the gains made post-liberalization, India still has a long way to go. More than a quarter of its population still lives below the poverty line. For most outsiders, India has an image of an exciting, but Dirty and unsafe country. Also, India needs to move faster from its present image of merely low cost to become strong on other important dimensions of customer satisfaction such as quality of after sales service and innovation. While several agencies are working to promote India; their efforts are not coordinated. As a result, different images of India are projected and the fragmentation of resources across various initiatives Leads to limited impact. As a part of Global economy Capital goods and after sales services to capital goods needs focus to enhance image of country. (I) SELECTION OF THE PROBLEM: Elevator Industry is growing at 8% to 10% globally per annum. In India elevator industry is growing at 15 to 18 % per annum and Market is very competitive. Here major factor is competition from unorganised players.Due to scarcity of land, elevator falls under Must Utility . Basically in elevator equipment industry buyer is not the actual user so any dissatisfaction from customer has double effect on seller. There is major transformation in elevator industry from traditional to modern, which has changed life style of millions of people in our country. Elevator users have become increasingly safety, quality and technology conscious. Also negligible research has been done in elevator after sales services. Moreover elevator population in Pune is increasing by leaps and bounds due to IT boom, Reality boom etc. Therefore, it was on this background, the present study was thought necessary and logical.
