Abstract: In electrical power system network power transformers are the most vital part because reliable and efficient power supply depends up on the proper functioning of power transformer Hence power transformers are considered as the true pillars in electrical grid but insulation present inside the power transformers are regarded as actual rulers to operate the power transformer more effectively and reliably Due to increase in population there is always an increase in power demand every year In order to reduce the transmission and distribution losses which is almost closer to 20 electrical power sectors are planning to implement 1200 kV UHV transmission system using advanced technologies Many electrical power companies are doing research in developing UHV power transformers which can withstand the over voltages like lightning overvoltage switching overvoltage and temporary power frequency overvoltage which occurs in UHV transmission systems Solid and liquid insulations present inside the power transformer must withstand these over voltages for reliable operation newline
