Abstract: The economic development has led a huge demand for energy, where the chief source of energy is derived from fossil source such as coal, petroleum and natural gas. Depletion and increase in the cost of nonrenewable fossil fuel has drawn the attention of the researcher to look for alternative fuel which can be produced from the renewable feedstock. newlineBiodiesel (Fatty Acid Methyl Esters, FAME), a greater source of renewable and green energy, possesses the fuel properties close to that of petroleum diesel and has versatile advantage such as biodegradable, reducing regulated air pollution, non-toxic and environmentally safe. newlineBiodiesel can be synthesized from both edible and non-edible plant newlinesource. The edible vegetable oils are the most widely used feedstock for newlinebiodiesel production. However, these feed stock present a significant newlinechallenge because of high cost feed stock and increasingly provoking tension between energy crisis and food security. Hence there is a need to seek low cost, non-edible oils for biodiesel. The demand for non-edible oil is also rising in recent years. New methodology and more interest are shown to plant these non-edible oil producing plants in large scale for biodiesel production. The non-edible crops can be grown in large scale on waste lands. newline newline
