Abstract: Growing concern on emissions and increase in cost of the newlinepetroleum products have put tremendous onus on the automotive sector The newlineemission trend is very rapidly switching from low emission vehicles LEV to newlinezero emission vehicles ZEV Emissions emanating from internal combustion newlineengines in particular diesel engines have been a great source of concern from newlinean environmental standpoint especially oxides of nitrogen smoke and newlineparticulates Several methods are being adopted to effectively reduce them newlineand one methods is Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition HCCI newlineoperation The new combustion process such as HCCI are investigated for newlinetheir potential to achieve near zero particulate and NOX emissions newline newline
