Abstract: Due to the fixed spectrum regulator policy becomes a hindrance for the efficient spectrum utilization, under which great portion of the spectrum is not exploited to meet the future needs of the communication applications For this purpose, the concept of cognitive radio is proposed to address the issue of spectrum scarcity, which adapts to its surrounding environmental and network centric usage conditions to sense the spectrum In the cognitive radio scenario, the secondary unlicensed users also known as cognitive users are opportunistically exploit the spectrum without interference to the primary licensed users In our proposed research work, we have targeted on sensing techniques by proposing a novel hybrid sensing technique in which all the significant features of the conventional detection techniques are exploited and this hybrid technique is much superior to the existing conventional sensing techniques In the next stage, we have focused on the reduction of the overall sensing time by proposing a novel radio architecture in which, the main receiver is combined with adaptive sensing receiver, which reduce the burden of the main receiver and also reduces the system complexity , and at the same time speed up the sensing operation In the first phase of this operation, it scans the entire available bandwidth for suitable frequency candidates for further use is known as coarse mode In this operation, the suitable candidature frequencies are identified, and then we go for accurate scan in the fine sensing operation mode In our work, we have considered the noise along with the interference to calculate the signal to interference and noise ratio SINR when the clusters of cognitive radios are operating
