Abstract: In this research study a new numerical model for simulating residence newlinetime distribution RTD of turbulent flows in helical static mixers is proposed newlineand developed to improve the understanding of static mixers An efficient newlinemethod is required to estimate the RTD and the sole means of achieving this newlineis through detailed Ricker modelling Dynamical behaviour of the RTD as a newlinefunction of residence time is described by the Ricker equation The RTD was newlinecalculated numerically by this Ricker model The results of the Ricker model newline predicted RTD is presented in terms of different volumetric flow rate to newlineillustrate the complicated flow patterns that drive the mixing process in newlinehelical static mixers The computed results are also used to predict the newlineamount of mixing that occurs within a mixing device The Ricker model newlinepresented in this research is part of a larger study on the use of static mixers newlinefor chemical reaction newline newline
