Abstract: The clinical demand on novel biomaterials has been growing newlinein the recent years in direct relation to the increasing of the human newlinepopulation A biomaterial is a synthetic nonviable material intended to newlineinteract with biological systems through intimate contact with living newlinetissue The recent advances in science and technology through research newlinehave opened the door to numerous new developments of materials and newlineimplants in medicine The significance of biomaterial developments lead newlinethe researchers to converge the ideas from various disciplines such as newlinebioengineering biology materials science physics chemistry ethics newlinelaw and etc for the development study and application of biomaterials newlineMaterials which include metals ceramics graphite polymers newlineGlass glass ceramics and composite materials are successfully used newlinewhen properties of these materials resembles the properties of the part of newlineliving organism to be replaced In recent years interest has grown in newlinebioactive or surface active biomaterials since these materials can induce newlinea specific biological activity Hench initiated the idea of new material newlineand explained as a bioactive material is one that elicits a specific newlinebiological response at the interface of the material which results in the newlineformation of a bond between the tissues and the material Though wide newlinevariety of biomaterials is available bioactive glasses and glass ceramics newlineare the important materials in solving crucial clinical requirements newline newline
