Abstract: The focal theme of this work was to measure the impact of residence gender and educational level on awareness and stigma of AIDS. Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome commonly known as AIDS and the human immune-deficiency virus known as HIV. HIV Have become a matter of grave concern for medical practitioners, social scientists in particular and Society in general. Probably the first report on this syndrome to be named AIDS came into light by new York doctors as late as in 1981 (Sabatier,1988). newlineThe first case of AIDS in India was reported in 1986, which rose to 6600 by 1998.According to WHO, India contributes the largest number of HIV positive individuals in South East Asia region. It is estimated that India has about 3.7 million individuals having HIV infections. newline newline newlineRural subject will have less awareness of AIDS than their urban counterparts. And urban subject will have less stigma of AIDS than their rural counterparts. newlineMale subject will have more awareness of AIDS than their female counterparts. And male subject will have less stigma of AIDS than their female counterparts newlineMatriculate subject will have less awareness of AIDS than graduate subjects. And Matriculate subject will have more stigma of AIDS than their graduate counterparts. newline newlineIn this present stud the sample was selected by stratified random sampling technique because it was much suitable to the nature of research problem. The sample included 200 subjects in which 100 were urban and 100 were rural. The sample area was Hazaribag, Ramgarh and Ranchi Districts of Jharkhand. newline newline
