Abstract: As there is a tremendous and revolutionary growth in the field of science and engineering it is a complicated task to protect the secured data and to provide necessary steps to avoid the theft of confidential details such as official particulars banking records i e financial reports etc and hence it is essential to have a reliable and a consistent personal identification system Only biometrics can meet the ever increasing requirement for security in critical applications The foremost assignment is to spot out the holder of the defense structure The client s individuality is checked by the biometric security system This is accomplished by contrasting the behavioral or physiological attributes of newlinethe owner Fingerprints are used for over a decade and moreover it has been a broadly accepted form of biometric identification Due to its high uniqueness permanence performance and circumvention the fingerprint biometrics is the most widely used technique Fingerprints consist of a series of black line called ridges and white lines called valleys or furrows Fingerprints are represented by their local characteristics called minutiae points i e the ridge ending points and bifurcation points newline newline
