Abstract: The performance of any electrical network mainly depends on newlineinsulation Outdoor performance is mostly done by insulator Porcelain has newlinelong been the material of choice for high voltage insulators offering good newlineresistance to electrical current and under environmental exposure without newlinesignificant degradation In recent times polymeric insulators are mostly newlinepreferred because of their superior insulation performance in terms of newlinecontamination endurance compared with conventional porcelain insulators newlineOne of the major problems in outdoor insulators is airborne newlineparticles of industrial coastal agricultural and transportation origin that are newlinedeposited on surface of insulators When contamination is building up and newlineexposed to moisture a conductive film can develop resulting in the flow of newlinethe Leakage Current LC on the surface of the insulator Due to flow of LC newlinethe dry band will created on the surface newline newline
