Abstract: Construction Industry is a fast growing area meeting the current demands of industrialisation and infrastructure development The principal binder in concrete is Portland cement the production of which is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions Sustainable practice of industrial ecology demands the use of byproduct of one industry as source materials to other industrial application With silicon and alumina as the main constituents fly ash has a great potential as a cement replacing material in concrete Geopolymer has the potential to replace ordinary Portland cement and produce fly ash basedgeopolymer mortar with excellent physical and mechanical properties Fly ash when in contact with alkaline solutions forms inorganic Alumino Silicate polymer product known as geopolymer Geopolymer binders might be a promising alternative in the development of acid resistant concrete newline
