Abstract: Trace metals at low concentrations are essential to life, at high concentrations, may become hazardous. Trace elements are dangerous because they tend to bio-accumulate resulting in heavy metal poisoning. However, at higher concentrations they can lead to poisoning. Heavy metal poisoning could result, for instance, from drinking-water contamination high ambient air concentrations near emission sources, or intake via the food chain. The trace elements detected in the water were, Iron, Manganese, Zinc, Chromium, Cobalt, Nickel, Copper, Cadmium and lead. A note worthy observation was the fact that the trace elements determined are exceeded maximum permissible concentration for drinking water. This work is based on the study of the impact of the industrial effluents on soil and water samples of some industrial area of Bilaspur. Four sampling stations near industries around Bilaspur district were selected .Lots of research work has been done to investigate the pollution in soil and water of Bilaspur and its rural area but no work has been done to investigate the impact of industrial effluents in these areas. newline
