Abstract: The Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector is emerging prominently in newlineresponse to the global challenges of fighting poverty, unemployment and sustainable newlinedevelopment. Currently, the demand for the skilled workforce is ever increasing for newlineincreased productivity and better economy. Thus, as of now, the future perspectives of newlineVET are seemed to be bright. As a result, the present focus of the education has shifted to newlinemake the high school children and university graduates ready for the jobs. This demands newlineimparting skill and training to them, however, the rapidly changing needs of the skills newlinemarket has increased complexity. This is notable that the highly skilled people are in newlineacute demand. Therefore, their movement across the countries is very frequent. At an newlineestimate, about 193 million migrant workers moved to the countries for employment newlineduring 2010 and will continue to rise in future also. South Asian developing countries newlinelike India could be referred as a young nation because the millions of population of youth newlinebeing added every year. In the Indian context VET, infrastructure is not sufficient. The newlinemost of the job opportunities are existing in the unorganised sector especially in the blue newlinecollar jobs. These blue collar jobs require hands-on VET skills, which are not taught at newlinethe secondary and higher level in a general education system. To become at par with the newlinelevel of world-class skills the world s two largest labour markets China and India have newlinebegun to invest heavily in significantly improving their training programmes and skills newlinefor capacity building of workforce just like the US, European Union and other leading newlinetraining providers. newlineTo sketch the landscape of VET for policy maker the present study provides newlinescientometric (quantitative) analysis of knowledge (publications) in the area of VET, newlinepursued through scientometric research method.
