Abstract: Transgenic crops are genetically modified crops Transgenic means transfer of newlinegenes with the help of recombinant DNA technology instead of plant acquired naturally newlineIn the past several years literature has been coming out rapidly to examine the impact of newlinetransgenic crops on human health environment and economy This topic has generated newlinesevere public debates in many parts of the world because of the fact that transgenic crops newlinecan bring together new gene combinations which are not found in nature Transgenic newlinecrops contain Cry proteins produced by Bacillus thuringiensis which is considered to be newlinesafe for humans and farm animals because this protein has insect oriented selective newlinetoxicity But according to critics some critical fundamental characters of Cry protein are unclear and direct effects of activated Cry protein on human being and livestock has not newlineyet been fully confirmed
