Abstract: From a critical analysis of published literature, following points newlinedelineate the significance and salient features of the present investigation. Artemisinin is an important and a promising antimalarial compound. A higher yield of artemisinin is desirable to make it relatively cheaper and accessible to the impoverished population of the third world newlinecountries where malaria occurs as an epidemic. To enhance the production of artemisinin, biotransformation from its precursors is a promising approach. newline
