dc.description.abstractStability is the main aspect of all kinds of power system networks. newlineThere are different categories of stability in any power system: steady state newlinestability, transient stability, dynamic stability, voltage stability and frequency newlinestability. In general each factor is taken into consideration depending upon the newlineenvironment and situation. In this research work, voltage stability is newlineconsidered to recommend the utilities of Flexible Alternating Current newlineTransmission System (FACTS) devices to achieve voltage stability under newlinedisturbed conditions for a given power system network. There are various newlineFACTS devices such as Static Var Compensator (SVC), Static Synchronous newlineCompensator (STATCOM), Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor (TCSC), newlineThyristor Controlled Phase Shifter (TCPS), Static Synchronous Series newlineCompensator (SSSC) and Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC). With the newlinehelp of UPFC device, the voltage stability investigation is dealt with and to newlinelocate the device and minimize the loss, a certain intelligent approach is used. newlineThey are; Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with Genetic Algorithm (GA), newlineArtificial Neural Network (ANN) with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) newlineand Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with Bees Algorithm (BA). The load flow analysis is carried out with Newton-Raphson method. newlineThe parameters of UPFC are modelled into power flow equation and thus it is used to determine the power injection in terms of voltage and power angle. newlineThe ANN is used for identifying the optimal location for fixing UPFC. The newlineGA, PSO and BA compute the amount of voltage and angle to be injected. newlineThe proposed hybrid methods are simulated using MATLAB. These newlineprocedures are individually applied for the chosen power system network of newlineeither 14 (or) 30 (or) 57 (or) 118 bus. The simulated results are analysed and newlinepresented.en_US
