Abstract: Scheduling is defined in general as the process of assigning tasks to the available limited resources with the goal of meeting the endorsed objectives. Scheduling in manufacturing industries is defined as the allocation of jobs to the available machines to reach the time based objectives such as minimization of Makespan, tardiness, due date etc. This research is deliberated to develop an efficient scheduling system for the advancement of the automobile manufacturing industry. One of the most complex scheduling environments in manufacturing industries is Job Shop. This research considered the Job Shop Scheduling Problem in automobile manufacturing industries with the objective of minimizing Makespan as the research problem and the research is carried out for solving it in efficient way. Bio immune system inspired Artificial Immune System based Clonal Selection Algorithm abbreviated as CLONALG is considered as a tool to solve JSSP in manufacturing industries. Objectives of the research are to study the manufacturing industry in the study area; assess the performance of the manufacturing industry specifically with respect to scheduling; study the Job Shop scheduling in general and in particular manufacturing industries; suggest an efficient scheduling method using Artificial Immune system; solve the adaptive nature of real world Job Shop Scheduling Problem with the unpredictable constraints violation by using Artificial Immune System; study the Job Shop Scheduling Problem in general and particular manufacturing industry using the proposed Artificial Immune System and find the suitability of the proposed scheduling method for various size JSSP in manufacturing industries. The proposed method is realized in two stages. The first stage includes Positive Selection Algorithm for initializing the Clonal Selection Algorithm. The second stage is built by the Modified Clonal Selection Algorithm which produces the Final Solution Library for the given JSSP. The thesis is organized into seven chapters. newline newline newline
