Abstract: The industrial development of a country and its different regions depend significantly on newlineadequate involvement of entrepreneurs. In the next ten years, around 130 million people newlinein India would be looking for their first jobs. Entrepreneurship offers a solution to the newlinegrowing employment problem and facilitates the uniform distribution of wealth and newlinebalanced regional development. In a vast country like India, there exist marked newlinedifferences among different regions with respect to economic history, political newlineconsciousness, socio-cultural heritage and natural resources. Therefore, to ensure newlineconsistent and balanced growth across the country, it is imperative that alongside national newlinepolicies, plans and strategies, industrial entrepreneurship be also studied regionally. newlineThe present study is a descriptive research of industrial entrepreneurship in Rajasthan, newlinebased on data collected from both primary and secondary sources. Primary data were newlinecollected from entrepreneurs, the general public and a few experts. Secondary data were newlinecollected mainly from various published reports and documents Structured mailed newlinequestionnaires were used to collect data from entrepreneurs and experts. The data from newlinegeneral public were collected through personal interviews. newlineThe support provided to entrepreneurs in the form of institutional infrastructure by the newlinecentral and state governments and private organizations with regard to financing, newlinemarketing, technology, training and development, development of physical infrastructure, newlineidentification of business opportunities and feasibility studies has also been briefly newlinetouched upon. newlineThrough the questionnaire, the motivations of entrepreneurs, their socio-economic newlinebackgrounds, problems encountered and future plans were studied. In addition, the newlineattitude of people of Rajasthan towards entrepreneurship as a career option, their newlineunderstanding of the term industrial entrepreneurship , their perceptions of newlineentrepreneurs contributions to society, their intention (or lack thereof) to start a business in future.
