Abstract: In this thesis new approaches are formulated to estimate the parameters and predict the maximum power generated by the PV module at maximum power point MPP under varying environmental conditions The important aspects of the main electricity grid are efficiency and reliability which are enhanced by introducing the micro grid concept PV based micro grid must be efficient and should provide reliable power when it is interconnected with the main grid or when operated in islanded mode Hence the PV based micro grid needs the generated power from the PV plants to be maximized for which the PV plants are necessary to operate at its maximum power point The maximum power point tracking MPPT controller used for achieving it needs information about the PV modules maximum power at maximum power point The output power from the PV based micro grid can be exactly predicted by finding the PV plant s output power accurately under varying environmental conditions which requires accurate estimation of the parameters in the PV model newline newline
